When to Let go and let God

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying “let go and let God”? Well have you ever understood the actual meaning of that? It literally means, “Take your hands off of it and Let God handle it”. As hard as that may be it is the most rewarding releasing feeling you could ever have.

One song that resonates with me for this is “Hear my Call” by Jill Scott. If there was ever an R&B song that brings you knees to ground in tears its this one. For me the hardest thing to let go of is relationships, letting go of what I thought would be. You hope that they will get better.

There are so many times in our lives when God calls you to let something go. Usually, it’s that thing that you love. Yet it still doesn’t serve the plan God has for you. So he calls you to release it, to let it go, and let him step in.

How hard is that?! To literally understand we cannot control everything! To surrender your need to fix everything is letting it go. We have to let go of control. Let go of our outlook or expectations. Let go of the ties that are unhealthy and nowhere NEAR what God has in store.

So when we finally let go and let God, we get something beyond our expectations. Something beyond what we feel like we are worthy of. God qualifies you in ways no degree, job experience, relationship experience can.

I challenge you to let go of the thing that hurts to hold on to. The thing that you keep worrying over that hasnt change. The thing that you wish you could change but have no clue where to start. Let it go. And let God change it for you.
